People aren’t mind readers

Complaining about your issues won’t bring solutions, and repeatedly going over unsolved problems won’t solve them either.   For workplace dynamics to go smoothly, both sides have to clearly communicate their needs.

Be specific about what you want and when you want it

The biggest reason for shattered expectations in the workplace is a lack of clarity around exactly what is expected.  Asking someone to do something can be interpreted in all sorts of ways in terms of when and how.

Be direct

Dropping hints to get others to change or improve doesn’t work, so make time for polite, professional and clear conversations face to face or by email.
